Sara Turner

Sara Turner

Sara Turner resides in Lexington, where she holds a Bachelor in Fine Arts from the University of Kentucky. Sara Turner is currently a creator for Make Like A Tree Comics. Along with her pal Jerzy Drozd, they work on several independent and collaborative stories, and formed Make Like A Tree in 2005 as their own online/self-publishing company. With the mutual agreement that comics should be fun and adventurous…like the Saturday morning cartoons they grew up on…they create an entire line of comics for kids of all ages.

Not growing up around comics, Sara started her comic explorations by writing and illustrating the sci-fi/ drama File 49, finishing its first graphic novel in 2006. During the same period she collaborated with Jerzy to create other series such as: The Replacements, Silver and the Periodic Forces, and Equalizers of the Divide. Her series Boys of the Den was published as part of the all-ages anthology Sugary Serials.

Along with her comics, Sara also works as one-half of the tag-team duo, Cricket Press, which specializes in custom screen-printed posters, letterpress, illustration and design. Since forming Cricket Press with her husband Brian in 2003, they've done freelance illustration for various companies and individuals…plus posters/packaging for a wide range of free-jazz, punk, and indie-rock bands.
